Babies everywhere!

Posted by Mary Namit on July 4, 2011 at 2:18 PM

Well the season came a bit later than usual what with the cooler temperatures! We had 25 baby skunks all doing well.  Most have been orphaned due to interventions with cars.  Mom gets hit trying to take the family on an outing for food or lodging and the babies stay near mom's body.

Other babies came to us after mom was either trapped or shot and then the homeowners find babies wandering without mom to care for them.  One little female was found in Salem just wandering the streets with a TOMCAT rat trap caught her head in it.  She is recovering from gaping wounds on her head and a hole in her chin.

Happy 4th of July !  Be careful out there and be mindful of the animals as we celebrate ;)
